Kraft partnered with BuzzFeed to create a viral product in time for Father's Day 2018. The concept centered around the idea that dads love meat and candles make great gifts, resulting in a candle that was designed to resemble the classic A1 steak sauce bottle in both color and shape. The wax was carefully crafted to mimic the sauce's signature brown hue.
Thanks to a streamlined development process, the product went from concept to market in just 30 days. To promote the candles, an ad campaign was launched on BuzzFeed.com concurrent with the product release.
The response was overwhelming: the candles sold out within 72 hours of launch, making it a runaway success and a testament to the power of smart, viral marketing.
